International Steel Group, the biggest steel enterprise of North America is a step ahead in acquiring Kia Steel. Seoul Local Court Bankruptcy Division nominated ISG-GoldmannSachs Consortium to a preferential negotiating partner. SeAH Holdings-Korea Technology Investment Consortium, which were in competition, made a bid at less price than ISG to be a provisional partner. ISG in the telephone interview with KMJ said 'MOU will be signed within this month and 3-6 weeks are required for spot investigation before the contract is concluded.' It is said that ISG will discuss on negotiation strategy with GoldmannSachs after listening to the presentation about Korea specialty steel industry and other details of Kia Steel not shown in financial statements.
