Domestic tin plate makers are continuously raising their export price and have been reportedly successful in their price applications. Having been successful in price increase for the shipments in the first and second quarters, they are raising the price for the third quarter as well. They are currently at talks with buyers and price negotiations in some areas have already finished. According to the industry sources, prices are going up in a range from 10-20 U.S. dollars to 20-30 U.S. dollars (FOB) per ton at the maximum even though there are some differences as per areas. Markers had earlier foresaw that their export prices for the third quarter would remain steady, as they believed that prices of all the steel products including cold-rolled ones would have difficulties in price increase due to the anticipated sluggishness in Chinese local market as well as the aftermath of the SARS outbreak that made demand faltering.
