Expecting demand would make a recovery in the second quarter. It is a matter of the highest interest in the recent wire rod market whether domestic wire rod price would increase in the second quarter of this year, which is regarded as a recovery period of demand. Wire rod product makers are foreseeing that domestic market prices for wire rods would increase on the ground of a continuously increasing rise both in the import prices for foreign wire rods and in the manufacturing costs for wire rods. Even though it were extra charge adjustments, domestic wire rod prices have been raised in December last year and February this year with the upward adjustments of extra charges by each type of rods, and therefore, there is a high possibility of another price hike in the second quarter of this year, the full-scale recovery period of demand, said analyzers.
