Prices of most items are likely to remain unchanged from the previous quarter. Export prices of most domestic steel products in the outbound shipments to Japan in the fourth quarter are likely to stay at the third quarters level. Export prices for China and other countries hold strong, but those for Japan are showing some exceptional move. POSCO has decided to increase prices of its cold-rolled steel sheets (CR) by 2,000 yen per ton in exports to Japan for the fourth quarter and notified customers of it. However, the overall export prices for Japan in the fourth quarter are likely to remain unchanged from the third quarters levels. According to industry sources in Japan, POSCO has decided to hike its export price by about 2,000 yen per ton in shipments of some CR that sells at relatively low level. However, export prices of CR for Japanese auto-related consuming sectors and distribution market, which accounting for most of its total exports to Japan, will be reportedly maintained at the third quarters level.
