Sales of High Carbon Steel Wire Rod Products Decline in First Half

Sales of domestic high carbon steel wire rod products were surveyed to have declined in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year. Exports slightly increased from a year ago, but domestic sales plunged, dragging down the overall sales. A recent poll on five major local markers of high carbon steel wire rod products, namely, KISWIRE, Manho Rope & Wire, Young Heung Iron & Steel, Dongil Steel and DSR, showed that their combined sales reached 214,273tons in the first half of the year with a year-on-year drop of 6.2 percent. Exports edged up 1.9 percent from a year ago to 102,309 tons, but a steep fall of 12.5 percent in domestic sales lowered the overall sales.
