The University of Texas at San Antonio Libraries developed a short, engaging video to introduce students to new mobile search capabilities that came bundled with Serials Solutions' Summon unified search product. However, prior to introducing the tool to students, groundwork was laid to better understand how Summon performs on mobile phones and to educate library staff-especially those who did not own Web-enabled phones themselves. Internally, we debated the extent to which we should promote a search tool that is not available to all our users. Ultimately, we felt the benefits of allowing students to access the library using the technology they clearly prefer has more benefits than drawbacks.
