Thegoal of the Porter Physiology Development Program is to encourage diversity among students pursuing full-time studies toward the PhD in the physiological sciences and to encourage their participation in the American Physiological Society. The program provides 1- to 2-vear, full-time graduate fellowships. The program is open to underrepresented ethnic minority applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or its territories. Fellows are expected to be/become APS members, participate in EB, complete specific professional development activities, and participate in K-12 outreach. Since 1967, the program has provided more than 228 fellowships to 111 trainees.
