Unprecedented. Criminal. Despicable. Horrifying. We have used many adjectives to describe the single largest terrorist attack in world history. But, as the shock began to wear off, we realized that words alone cannot really describe it. Words alone will never describe it.It was intended to be an attack against the U.S. It wasn't that at all. It was an attack against humanity. And the immediate response showed humanity's courage and resilience in the face of a disaster. Firefighters, rescue and recovery workers, and medical personnel of all sorts converged on the scene. Donations flowed in. Disaster relief funds were created. More donations flowed in. Benefit events and fund-raisers were organized. And donations continued to flow in.
