Ventura & Associates has introduced a thermal-sprayed tungsten carbide coating for roll tooling used in the tube, pipe, and roll form industries. A newly designed alternative to repetitive roll reconditioning, the thermal spray process is used to restore worn rolls to new or like-new condition. The process improves the stability and repeatability of the rolls and enhances mill uptime by helping to keep roll tooling running longer and more reliably, according to the company.The process results in little heating of the part, so it can be applied to a fully heat-treated, completely machined part with reduced risk of distortion.
