The L.S. Starrett Co. has introduced band saw blades that have Bi-Metal Unique~R, a technology that reduces the problems associated with interrupted cuts. This type of cut, in which the blade enters, exits, then re-enters the material, increases the force and stress on each saw tooth. When one tooth leaves contact with the cut and the next tooth enters the cut, the force often leads to tooth breakage. After a sin-gle tooth chips or Strips, it puts more stress on the other teeth, which eventually can lead to premature and complete blade failure.
