"WHICH bending lubricant should I choose?" often sounds like the first question in a game of 20 Questions: animal, vegetable, or mineral? For lubricants, the choices are actually synthetic, vegetable, or mineral, referring to the base: water, vegetable oil, or petroleum. And like the game, you probably need to ask many additional questions (far more than 19) before you can determine the best lubricant for your operation. Operation is the key word. For the application-the tube or pipe alloy, surface finish, wall thickness, and bend severity-the lubricant needs a certain amount of lubricity to be effective, and this is the main consideration.
