IT would be nice if one size fit all, but the world is not like that. If it were, the Olympic Games would consist of a single event, all students would take the same classes, and we'd have a single political party. Life would be a lot more predictable, but extremely dull. "Variety is the spice of life" might be a cliche, but it's the truth nonetheless. On occasion photographers probably would like a little more uniformity in setting up shots, but again, one size doesn't fit all. Taking a good photograph on uneven terrain outdoors, or indoors when an eye-catching shot is best captured from a stairway or some other uneven surface, requires a tripod. Obviously, a tripod must be able to handle an infinite number of positions. A high-quality tripod is made of lengths of tubing that slide smoothly until the photographer locks them into place.
