摘要

MET had no significant effects on the yield components such as panicle length;number of spikelets per panicle and 1000-grain weight. However;it made a significant increase in Fi seed yield. Compared with the yield of the control;the yield obtained from IR 58025A (F,) seeds treated with MET increased by 581.9 kg/ha and 544.4 kg/ha;while the male parent (IR 34686R) increased yield by 702.6 kg/ha with soaking and 758.8 kg/ha with spraying. The increments were mainly attributed to the increased number ofproductive tillers;which resulted in the increased number of panicles per hill. Although the yield of the male parent is not as important as the yield of Fi seed from the A line;it should be noted that the former is the sole source of pollen for the latter parent. The increased panicle count/hill of the pollen parent resulted in increased amount of pollen and consequently;seed setting rate of the female parent became higher;hence;the higher Fl seed yield.
