One of the most important missions of SCTPA is continuing to educate children, school teachers, governmental representatives, parents, businesses and the general public about sustainable forestry, professional timber harvesting, forest products and the forestry industry here in South Carolina. SCTPA has visited many schools throughout the state over the years to present its educational program to show how and why foresters, loggers and the forest products industry works to ensure our sustainable andrenewable forest resources that provides the wood going into the manufacturing of over 5,000 products containing wood and wood byproducts, enhances wildlife habitat, protects biodiversity, improves clean water qualities, provides recreational and job opportunities and relates how important our industry is to our state's economy as timber is South Carolina's number one cash crop.
