Eric Gough retired from Dunlop in 1968 after 42 years of distinguished service to his company and the tire profession.His publications and correspondence to me,which I read while just entering the industry,served as my tutor-at-large.Even now,three decades after his death in 1973,one can still sense the fundamental physics underlying his written words that deal with various aspects of tire materials and mechanics.This feeling is not usually experienced when reading much of today's jargon-laced literature dealing with similar subjects.
