The present Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control special issue consists of eight previously unpublished papers selected from over 100 manuscripts submitted to the 2012 International Conference on Cyber Technology in Automation, Control, and Intelligent Systems (IEEE-CYBER 2012) held on 27-31 May 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand. These papers were reviewed and selected due to their unique contribution to the field of control and automation in cyberphysical systems (CPS). CPS represents a class of control systems that consist of tightly linked computational and physical components. The primary advantages of CPS when compared with others include increased autonomy, efficiency, functionality, reliability and safety level. These advantages allow CPS to be utilized in a wide range of technical fields including advanced robotics, image analysis, power management, vehicle control and safety, and Internet of Things. The selected papers included in this special issue as described in the following will provide up-to-date CPS information in such areas as controller design, integration of software and hardware, and Internet computing. Luy et al. describe a new method for designing an integrated tracking control algorithm for a non-holonomic wheeled mobile robot. The convergence and stability of the algorithm was demonstrated by Lyapunov techniques, and simulations performed on a wheeled robot demonstrated the effectiveness of the new controller.
