Eric Melville, from the village of Methven, in Scotland, is a big fan of the tractors built at the BMC, then Leyland, factory in Bathgate. Bob Weir went to Perth and Kinross to learn all about his 1968 Nuffield 4/25. "I have lived in the area all my life and was born just up the road in Crieff," Eric explained. "I am a timber haulage contractor to trade and have been self-employed since the early 1980s. I went into business with my father-in-law but, now he's retired, it's just me and my son. "I originally started collecting old tractors about 20 years ago, mainly as a hobby. I've owned half a dozen during this time. Apart from the Nuffield, my current collection includes a David Brown Cropmaster, a Leyland 344, and a Grey Fergie TE-E 20 berry tractor." Eric acquired the Nuffield in 2007 from Jamie Reith at nearby Whitebank Farm. He said: "I already knew Jamie quite well and had spotted the Nuffield on a number of occasions when I was up at his place delivering firewood.
