New demands regarding the water installation require the development and use of new materials. One of such new material groups are thermoplastic elastomers. Although the article addresses some properties and applications of thermoplastic elastomer materials it is mainly concerned with the requirements which need to be met for their usage in drinking water installations paying special attention to German drinking water regulations.
