The use of energy obtained from stress-wave measurements in the Hiley Formula to assess load carrying capacity of steel H-piles is discussed. It has been tried out on 566 piles and the predicted results are compared with those obtained by CAPWAP analysis and actual static load tests. The results show that the Modified Hiley Formula tends to overestimate the ultimate pile capacity by varying degrees.
