The paper only emphasises the effectiveness of the PCO air purification unit without mentioning the hazardous effect of the OH radical is dangerous to both the public and our profession. The oxidising agent of Photo-Catalytic Oxidation is OH radicals (Appendix 1&2). The OH radical is the most toxic of the oxygen-based radicals and it wreaks havoc within cells (Appendix 3, 4, 1). Its oxidising power is 2,06 times of Ozone. An excess of free radicals can cause different medical conditions, depending on which tissues are attacked. The free radical may attach DNA and cause cancer or birth defects; if they attach your pancreas, they can cause diabetes; in blood and blood vessels, they can cause cardiovas cular disease; in the eye, they can cause cataracts. Free radical-caused oxidation produces premature aging and sets us up for serious illness, including cancer and heart disease (Appendix 5).
