Farms can actively participatein carbon emissions tradingby decreasing land clearing,changing fertilising practicesand reducing methaneemissions. This timely advicewas delivered to delegates atthe Agriculture Australia 2007conference by National AustraliaBank's (NAB) carbon financespecialist. Rachel O'Neill, head of NABCapital's Carbon Solutions Group toldthe conference that although non-energy related emissions for the agricultureand forestry sectors are not proposedto be included in the short term in theemissions trading scheme, there arestill likely to be significant opportunities for the farm sector to be involved.
