摘要

A female common buzzard (Buteo buteo) with paraplegia due to shooting wound on the sacral region, inappetence and dullness is reported. Blood was collected from the wing vein for blood analysis. The bird died after two days and postmortem examination was performed. Postmortem examination revealed trauma and haemorrhage on the sacral region. Numerous fractures were observed at the sacral bone that attributed to paraplegia. Blood coagulation was observed in the abdominal cavity. Blood smears revealed Leucocytozoon toddi and Haemoproteus elani infection. Microscopic examination of the gut revealed numerous flagellates which were diagnosed as Histomonas meleagridis. This is the first report of simultaneous naturally occurring Leucocytozoon toddi, Haemoproteus elani and Histomonas meleagridis identification in a buzzard.
