After leaving the sea, early land plants had to ensure that their roots had access to water and to a nutrient supply while their shoots competed for available sunlight. In this context, the development of gravi-sensors and osmotic motors has enabled plants to adjust the growth of their organs according to the gravitational force. As discussed in the preceding article, we have focussed our attention on the tuning of the osmotic motor to changes in gravity.
