In fact, Craig is the practice manager for the Countryside Veterinary Hospital in Chelmsford, Mass, which would seem to be about as far as possible from pet retailing. But Craig's hospital sells 500,000 dollar of dogfood a year, a total that many independent pet retailers cannot match, and its retail, including supplies and accessories, turns a profit.
