My family has been in veterinary medicine since 1950. I am a second-generation veterinarian. My son is a veterinarian as well. I took over Dad's business on graduation in 1970, and we were a typical one-man operation. We started to grow, and, at thattime, we practiced the normal veterinary medicine. My dad had a photographic memory; so, there were very few records when I came in. I said, "Dad, we've got to transition." Thus, we implemented a typical paper-based filing system. I knew that was not the answer for us in the long term. I knew there was something better.
