The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has a seed potato standard that serves as a reference for many countries. The work on the seed potato standard is done by the "Specialized Section on Seed Potatoes". During the last meeting ofthe section in Geneva, Switzerland, in October people from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and the United States of America were in attendance. Funding for participation from a US seed potato certification agency is provided by the US Potato Board on request of the National Potato Council Seed Certification Sub-Committee.
