Covering tubers with a 5 mm layer of dry sand, ash, rice husk or sawdust; covering tubers with a 25 mm layer of dry rice straw; and mixing potatoes with deltamethrin powder or carbaryl at 5 kg/t of tubers were tested against Phthorimaea operculellain storage. All the treatments except the rice straw were effective against the pest, and the best were rice husk, sand, ash and deltamethrin.
