Shallot bulbs were stored for 5 months at Alemaya and Dire Dawa for two seasons in nets, sacks or boxes. The storage materials had a significant impact on the keeping quality, especially at Alemaya. The bulbs stored in sacks lost most weight and theyhad the highest rate of sprouting and rotting at Alemaya in both seasons. There was little difference in sprouting at Dire Dawa, and rotting there was not serious.
