摘要

The pulping potentialities of 9 exotic hardwoods from Sudan were investigated using the soda-anthraquinone method. Three eucalypts (Eucalyptus camaldulensis, E. microtheca, E. paniculata), Grevillea robusta and Azadirachta indica (neem) were the most suitable for pulping, followed by Cassia siamea [Senna siamea] and Leucaena leucocephala. Conocarpus lancifolius and Prosopis chilensis were of little value for papermaking. Generally, the pulps were similar to birch [Betula] pulps, but with better tear strength. Addition of guar gum [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba] during beating facilitated beating and improved the wet/dry strength.
