Mineral wools are used for cold, warm and sound insulation or for fire protection. Saint-Gobain Isover, world leader for insulation, contributes since numerous years to the improvement of comfort and environment. This contribution relative to product use must be conducted jointly with good hygiene and safety conditions during manufacture and with limitation of environmental impacts. For several years these problems are taken in to account from the beginning of the 70s, numerous researches were led to reduce environmental impacts on production sites for glass and stone wool. Since the end of the 70s, studies were launched better to improve the knowledge the potential effects on the health of glass and rock fibers. Since 1996, the safety is declared absolute priority.
