Astranger entering our staff room at coffee time on any given day over the last few weeks would be forgiven for assuming that there had been a major, if not catastrophic, falling out between individual members of the team. Not a word is spoken. Rye contact is avoided. Long periods of silence are broken only by a quiet sigh. Brows are furrowed, lips arc pursed, arms are folded and even-one looks downwards. The only clue that there has not been a cataclysmic disagreement are the pencils poised tantalisingly above the pages of folded newspapers. For coffee time at our practice now means Sudoko time. Given that readers of Veterinary Practice are -without exception - persons of rare discernment and ability, 1 have no doubt that you cannot be unaware ofthis simple but maddeningly addictive puzzle that is sweeping the country - indeed, you'll find one within the pages of this very journal.
