What is it about well-intentioned resolutions that makes them so difficult to keep? Society would certainly be different if we actually managed to achieve what we repeatedly resolve to change in our lives; we would all be healthier and slimmer, cigarette manufacturers would rapidly go out of business, and our sublime houses would have advertising companies jostling to use them in their latest promotional videos, whilst our gardens would give every appearance that Charlie Dimmock had just completed awhirlwind visit with a posse of energetic workmen. And of course in the veterinary -world we would all be faultless, with each day ending with all case logs fully updated and cross-referenced to lab reports, all clients satisfied, all telephone queries completed, and the practice office spotlessly clean and tidy. Oh yes. All pigs loaded and cleared for take off, as they say.
