The behind-the-scenes story of how the SSR became a reality reflects a new approach in OEM-supplier relationships. During a four-year period, starting in 1999, ASC Incorporated and GM forged a strong, trusting partnership and seamless, working relationship on the SSR program. This link enabled these companies to jointly create the SSR, and to bring it to the marketplace quickly and cost-effectively. Our success story is a powerful one. In my view, it will serve as a model for the future, as automakers seek to develop and produce more and more low-volume vehicles, while generating innovative products and making profits in the process.
