Over the past twenty years, the use of high-strength steels (HSS) in the average light vehicle has grown rapidly, outpacing all other materials including aluminum. This growth is especially dramatic in body and chassis applications. With the current rise in the use of advanced high-strength steels (AHSS), this growth is expected to continue, as shown in Figure 1.
