Controls assurance (CA), is a process of self-assessment against 21 published standards, introduced to assure boards that they have robust corporate governance and risk management systems Gedling Primary Care Trust, (PCT), required confirmation that CA was implemented throughout the organisation, and this research aimed to find to what degree this had been achieved. This explored the areas of the CA process itself, communication, training, involvement, priority, culture and barriers.
