Let G be the Chevalley-Demazure group scheme determined by a finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra L and its adjoint representation, R a commutative ring with identity and R* the multiplicative group consisting of all units in R. Denote by G(R) the Chevalley group over R with respect to G. Let Δ be a root system of L, Δ~+ the set of all positive roots with respect to some simple root system of Δ. Let E(R) be the elementary subgroup of G(R) and U(R) the upper triangular unipotent subgroup of E(R) generated by all x_α(t), t∈R, α∈ Δ~+. Let T(R) denote the standard maximal torus, which is isomorphic to the group Hom(P, R*) where P is the lattice spanned by Δ over the ring of integers Z. Let B(R) be the standard Borel subgroup of G(R) generated by the subgroups U(R) and T(R).
