摘要

There is a suit of well-developed terrestrial deposits with great thickness in the Pishan and Hotan areas, southwest Tarim Basin. The age determination and stratigraphical correlation have been argued for many years. The strata were called Yarkant System and assigned to the Upper Permian through Lower-Middle Jurassic based on the fossil plants before the 1960s. In 1962, Sze et al. renamed it the Yarkant Group to represent the upper part of the so-called Yarkant System, i.e.. the Jurassic coal-bearingstrata, while the lower part originally assigned to the Upper Triassic was called Upper Permian Duwa Formation. Afterwards it was held that there is no Triassic depositional record in this area. In 1988, Liu confirmed the existence of Triassic strata based on the study of conchostracans in Duwa, Pishan, Subsequently, Hou reported the Late Permian sporopollen assemblage from the area. However, precise contact between Permian and Triassic and the age determination of the Duwa Formation were still problems to be solved. Based on the research of spores and pollen macerated from 19 samples collected from the Duwa Formation of Duwa, the author first reports the earliest Triassic deposits in the area and confirms that the Permian-Triassic boundary is continuous.
