FOR ON-ROAD finesse, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always lagged behind such rivals as the Mercedes M-Class and VW Touareg, but this face-lift is designed to change that. Biggest news is a new eight-speed automatic transmission that reduces emissions to a competitive 198g/km for both the entry-level 188bhp and more popular 247bhp diesel versions. A petrol V8 SRT8 model will follow.
