There are two kinds of time constraints in a software system. One is the relative time constraints on the components of a system, for example, the exclusive use of resources, synchronization, etc. The other is the absolute time constraints for certain parts of the system. Real time applications are the typical examples. Conventional programming pays much attention to function design. It usually employs implicit approaches such as PV primitives or monitors to realize the relative time constraints.
