摘要

IT is well known that state transitions can keep even distribution of excitation energy between the two photosystems (PS II and PS O ), favoring efficient operation of the photosynthetic apparatus. However, state transitions are usually thought to beassociated with low light conditions. Its physiological significance under high light conditions is still a controversial issue, Many people think that state transitions occur and take significant effect only under low light , though some people still get data in support of the suggestion that state transition plays an important role in nonphotochemical dissipation of light energy even at strong light . When considering the protecting mechanisms whereby the photosynthetic apparatus is prevented from photodamage, it is usually suggested that transition to state 2 may redirect part of light energy absorbed by PS II to PS I , thereby alleviating the pressure of excess light energy on PS II, but there is no direct experiment evidence to demonstrate it.
