摘要

THE responses of plant photosynthesis to elevated CO_2 could be divided into short-term response and long-term response or acclimation. In the short-term response, photosynthesis can be enhanced at the beginning of high CO_2 treatment for most C_3 carbon fixation species, but the photosynthetic rate may decrease when the plants are exposed to that high CO_2 for a long period. Such a phenomenon can be explained as that the enhancement may be restricted by some environmental factors, such as light, temperature, water, nutrient, and even the growth rooms for plants . Long-term response or acclimation studies, on the other hand, enable plants to have enough time to get acclimated to the changed CO_2 environment, thus providing an ideal method for predicting the capacity changes in photosynthesis or other important ecophysiological features. But in most of the present studies, the growth rooms for plants are still restricted , and most treatments are only suitable for seedlings, but not for tall and bigspecies, especially trees.
