8-chIoroadenosine induces apoptosis in human MOLT-4 cell line

摘要

THE 8-chloroadenosine (8CA) is a novel analog of adenosine synthesized in the National Research Laboratories of Natural and Biomimetic Drugs. Fang et al. reported that 8CA is capable of inhibiting the cell growth in vitro of mouse liver cancer cells and human HL-60 and K562 of human leukemic cell lines. In the present study, we showed that 8CA could induce human leukemia MOLT-4 T lymphocytes to die by apoptosis and that the apoptosis could be inhibited by bcl-2 overexpression. 8CA-induced-cell deathprovided a new experimental model for studying the mechanism of apoptosis and screening anti-tumor drugs for clinical trials.
