Last time, we touched upon the basic blade parameters as well as the variation of cutter head configurations available. In this article, we will explore the basics of the wire processing blade geometries. Right after our wire processing machine finalizes the wire length measuring operation, it is time to remove a section of the electrical wire insulation material to expose the bare internal conductor. Most of the time, the conductor core of our wire is an arrangement of one or more individual copper filaments laid around each other to form a particular geometric arrangement. By far, the best available core arrangement for trouble-free processing maintains a regular hexagonal geometric approximation on its cross section and has a twisting lay of sufficient tightness to assure keeping those filaments in place when the dislodging forces are applied to the insulation sleeve. Other times, the conductor material can be other types of cores such as the carbon suppression or low-resistance spiral wound wires for ignition cables.
