摘要

As of April 2, Kobe Steel Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, reported that operations have been restored at all of its production facilities that were among the many businesses affected by the Jan. 17 earthquake in the Kobe, Japan region that claimed more than 5,000 lives. The quake cost Kobe an estimated 100 million US dollars in damages plus another 35 million US dollars to 40 million dollars in lost business and increased variable costs, the company said. Year-end dividends for fiscal 1994 were suspended.
