U. S.-based Blue Blade Steel Company offers hardened tempered strip steel wound in compact, large capacity oscillated coils that it said can provide significant production cost savings. A traditional ribbon-wound coil has the steel rolled directly on top of itself in a flat roll configuration similar to a spool of gift wrap ribbon, but the oscillated coil places strip steel in a compact coil, similar to the way in which line is wound onto a fishing reel, a press release said.
