Pirelli's Sirocco~R Blown Fibre System provides the simple solution to manage evolving network demands without the need for high up-front expenditure or intensive forward planning. The company notes that the technology is a decade old but said that it continues to grow and adapt to changing business requirements. It enables optical fibers to be deployed on demand from one point of a network to another (internal or external) using compressed air to blow optical fiber into pre-installed tubes. The Sirocco systems are designed to provide: increased network design flexibility; service provision on a just-in-time basis (Network on Demand); ability to easily re-rout existing fiber links to new users; ability to deploy the latest fiber technology (MM OM3 SM); and superior damage recovery over conventional systems.
