Studies were conducted to investigate the feasibility of raising Channa marulius with Oreochromis mossambicus by using different predator-prey stocking ratios (1:10, 1:20, 1:30 and 1:40 in T1, T2, T3 and T4, respectively) in fertilized ponds. The experiments were carried out in 8 earthen ponds (40x10x1.50 m) at Bismillah Fish Farms, Ghotki (Sindh), Pakistan. All the water quality parameters (temperature, Secchi disk, pH, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, hardness, nitrate, phosphate and plankton dry weight) were within the accepted range as recommended for tropical aquaculture. Maximum control of tilapia overpopulation occurred when the predator:prey stocking ratio was 1:10, although the growth of C. marulius was lowest at this stocking ratio. The final mean weight of C. marulius was highest in T4, followed by T3, T2 and T1. The final mean weight of O. mossambicus was highest in T1, followed by T2, T3 and T4. The results affirmed the culture suitability of C. marulius and solved the dual problems of tilapia stunting and overpopulation in pond culture systems.
