Animal welfare is a strange mixture of philosophy, political correctness, personal beliefs, morals, anthropomorphism, and conventional wisdom, with some science and a bit of common sense thrown in. Fish Welfare, edited by Edward J. Branson, is the proceedings of a conference held in November 2004 in Edinburgh. The book reflects the strange mixture that is animal welfare, especially as it is interpreted in the United Kingdom.
