The design and development of a cost-effective and technically efficient biofiltration system made from locally available materials in Bangladesh, and the introduction of a recirculation system into shrimp hatcheries to reuse water through continuous treatment, reduce water consumption and reduce the discharge of saline water into the environment are presented.
