摘要

The term 'maintenance breeding' is explained in view of the legislation which specifies that all varieties and cultivars designed for propagation should maintain their defined characteristics, uniformity and purity. Since a hop plant will remain in its situation for a minimum of 15 years whilst environmental conditions may change, stock plants of registered varieties must be monitored every year for their performance, stability, health and varietal purity. Tests are performed on selected samples of stock plants in several location shortly before and during the harvest. Results of the tests for 2005 are presented in tables.
